August 22 - May 20 Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales
For those who know us less well. We are independent travelers in our 70's.
In the beginning :) My mother's father, William Harron and my fathers grandfather Joseph Russell Donaldson were both born in what is now Donegal about 50 miles from each other though they never met. Donegal is an unusual county as it wraps around the North but is actually now part of the Republic though pretty isolated from it as you can see for the two points at the highest left on the map...
We will start our journey in Dublin Then drive to County Donegal to the towns both lived in. Then we return to . Dublin and take the bus to Belfast.
We return to Dublin 5 days later and take the worlds largest ferry to Holyhead, Wales. The ferry holds 1300 cars and 2000 people and takes 3.5 hours to cross.
Wales will be a new experience and we will be mostly in small towns and traveling by bus and train. We will come down through Wales to Cardiff and then fly back to Dublin and home.
We have visited the Republic of Ireland before so this is all mostly new territory.
Very excited!
More info on locations as we arrive and pictures of course!.
